My office / guest room has a blue theme, with bird friend (Twitter logo) and a whiteboard decorating the walls.










Then the bedroom - which is very minimalistic. The color scheme is black and red - though only slightly.










Finally, here's my terrace. The view will change over the next year or so, as the new buildings, and likely a small strip of green between them, gets made.










The area I've moved to in Copenhagen (Valby) is called Grønttorvet (directly translated to 'green square' or 'vegetable market'), named by the area previously having been used for a market for fruits and vegetables. It is a new area with lots of new buildings, roads, parks, etc. - and I'm quite fond of it so far.

As preparation for moving to a new apartment in May, 2020, I wanted to create a new theme for my apartment instead of my current "whatever weird art I've created".
I call this new theme "whatever weird art I've created - that's purple (or pink?)!".

I tried a few different approaches - but ended up going a simplistic "paint by numbers" kinda style, which I personally really like. 

Disclaimer: I have close to no artistic talent - but I am damn good at creating and following algorithms (guidelines/rules); so my "art" is very easily replicable. You're welcome?

My approach was this:
1) Find a bunch of big-ass pieces of cardboard
2) Paint the cardboard black or white to create canvases
3) Create cut-out templates for the motives
4) Use the cut-outs to add the motives (in purple/pink) to the canvases
5) Optional: Add a bit of "panache" to the paintings
6) Create and add frames

Here's the results - followed by the process (and bigger photos) of my paintings.




Shark (maybe Fluffy McSharkah Khan?)
I spent some time (too long) trying to recreate the exact dimensions of Fluffy - but, wow, am I bad at eye-to-hand coordination. Either way - this is what I made.

I made canvases (shark one not shown).


I drew. I cut. I taped.


I painted.


I ended up with.


And I tried to make frames.

I absolutely love the movie I Kill Giants (2017), based on the comic of the same name - and I might even have called the movie a masterpiece (which I stand by). You can ready my of the movie here: https://redacted.work/reviews#ikillgiants2017
In this amazing movie there are some creatures called harbingers, who are ghostly figures that indicate that giants and death is near.
For a while I had wanted to attempt to create a sculpture of a harbinger - and I finally ended up doing so on the evening of June 8, 2019.




The way I created this harbinger, started out with me cannibalizing one of my old, small (and pointless) art pieces - whatever this spiderweb-looking thing was meant to be.



I then changed the structure, to prepare for adding the harbinger's head.



The internal skeleton of the head was created by adding some lollipop sticks (oh, by the way, the whole frame is made out of lollipop sticks).



Then I took some playdough and sculpted a head.



I added some "feelers" - inspired by Frederic Perrin's concept art for the I Kill Giants movie (http://fredericperrin.com/2015/portfolio/projects/i-kill-giants/) - which was what I mostly drew from while creating my harbinger.



I then added the cloak.



And threw a bunch of strings over it.



I finished the sculpture with some black paint - definitely increasing its creepiness.








A close-up of this thing's face kinda resembles the dead Darth Vader.

While talking about some of the wood carvings that my brother and I had made, like wooden swords and knives, someone remember that my mother still had a pretty decent spoon that my brother once made - so my brother went to get it. As he came back to the table, he put the spoon, he made so many years ago, on the table (the spoon on the left). Then, with perfect comedic timing, he went "and here's the spoon Halfdan made" and placed the second spoon on the table... :'-D

I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. Even just looking at this photo now makes me chuckle.

First made popular by The Slow Mo Guys, putting rubber bands on a watermelon until it explodes ended up being something that the infamous Cramer brothers of our Google+ community engaged in couple of times. For science - of course. ;-)


Round One: Cramer vs. Cramer
In August of 2013, Keith and Scott Cramer held their so-called "Impromptu Rubber Banded Watermelon Hot Potato Roulette Challenge" - and videotaped it.
It is a long watch - so just ahead to the 20-minute mark of the video to see the more "juicy" part.

In addition, Mar Mai (author of The Dragon Tutor) made this drawing to immortalize the watermelon shenanigans.




Round Two: Joined by the Dane
Then years later, on 2015-06-18, while I were visiting Keith and Scott, they decided that we all needed to do this watermelon roulette again.

First we out to buy the watermelons.



We set up the chairs for all the participants - on the front lawn of Keith's house for the whole neighborhood to be able to see our shenanigans.



The game however didn't really work since the rubber bands were too weak and the watermelons were too tough. The watermelons simply wouldn't explode. After more than an hour, most of us gave up...



...but Scott Cramer wouldn't give up and after some further help from Keith Cramer and a lot of punching the watermelon, it worked. 





The whole endevor felt rather anticlimatic - during which the rubberbands kept snapping since they were a bit on the smallish side and gave os welts. :-P

When we came back to Kyla's house we gave our Munny figures a ground a coat of paint - mine with white.



After the initial coat of white paint were cry, I started filling in the details.

On the Friday evening of 2013-11-08, I were considering what to wear for the Tour des Chambres party I would be attending the next day at my old dorm. Our dorm kitchen would have the theme "movies" but I still hadn't gotten around to deciding on a costume. This is where the people of my Google+ community came in - who I approached with the words "HELP ME!!! Please..." and the following photo of what I had available for putting together a costume, along with more "normal" clothes.



I were welcoming any ideas and the theme "movies" could be taken to as abstract lengths as thinkable.

For previous Tour des Chambres parties I'd been dressed as Che Guevara, Ramesses II, Dr. Evil, Lex Luthor, evil butcher, hat maniac, flower power with fire power, escaped western prisoner impersonating a sherif, Venom, and probably a few others I can't recall.

 The suggestions started flowing in from my friends on Google+...

Lara Croft
First suggestion came from Lisa L, who suggested Lara Croft - which my only to was: "how... much... skin...?"




Tank Girl
Next suggestion (that I followed) came from Eddie McBride - going along with the female character trend and suggesting Tank Girl.




Jesse Pinkman
Kyla Myers then suggested Jessie Pinkman from Breaking Bad, which she thought I'd be "perfect for". I tried?




Pee-wee Herman
The next one I'm not sure who (if any) suggested - but I googled "red bowtie" and found a character called Pee-wee Herman from a show I'd never seen. I went with it.




Charlie Allnut
Troy Liput noticed the white cap in the little of my costume "ingredients" photo and thought it gave him a Charlie Allnut vibe (Bogart in The African Queen). I gave it a shot.




Agent 47 (Hitman)
I did a repeat of Agent 47 from the Danish video game "Hitman" as per request of Lise Bjerregaard Nielsen, even though I had previously dressed as Agent 47 for a party.




Professor Charles Xavier
The next one was perhaps pretty obvious - Professor X (from the X-Men comic) - also suggested by Lise Bjerregaard Nielsen.




Sith Lord
Yet another suggestion from Lise Bjerregaard Nielsen - a Sith Lord. I once before created a pretty decent homemade Sith Lord costume (https://photos.app.goo.gl/hgnCd4ifQXG1NbZS7) - but on this Friday evening I just threw the following together in a couple of minutes.




... And that was all I the costumes I managed to throw together that one Friday evening - after which I had to clean up my apartment which were filled with costume parts.


My final choice for the party... Tank Girl!
This was the costume I ended up making.
I used fabric paint for the T-shirt instead of colored tape. I have to say that I were quite happy with the result.



When I arrived at my old dorm I did some small modifications of the costume and even added some face paint (fake blood).

Francisco Goya's painting of Saturn Devouring His Son, that he possibly never intended for anyone to see, has haunted me for weeks or months every time I've ever encountered it.

The evening of 2018-04-09, after a failed attempt at "art" (encouraged by Bruce Shark and Sandy B), I decided to at least try to recreate the single most haunting painting in history. Well, this is how it turned out.



To be honest I'm relieved that I shouldn't recreate the emotional expression that Goya managed to give Saturn. It somehow makes me feel more sane to not be able to recreate that part of the original painting.

Side note: This is a kinda horrifying thing to own now. Before, I knew Goya's painting existed - but now I'm reminded of it every time I notice the painting on my wall; I don't like that feeling. I guess I just have to get used to this - which I can do, heck, I literally have a floating pink cloud in my kitchen, and I haven't even noticed it in almost a year, even though it freaked me up at first.

Back in late december of 2016, I went to New Orleans to celebrate New Year's Eve with a couple of friends from Google+. One these friends were Amy Porter - who, during my stay in New Orleans, introduced me to the GPS augmented reality game Ingress - and I decided to give it a shot. It didn't take long before I was hooking.
Within 24 hours of starting playing I was level 4 and when I got back to Denmark a couple of days later I decided to give my local area a look in regards to Ingress portals. I ended up creating my first big-ish control field at 881 MUs and take over a handful of green/frog portals (I am blue/smurf). Interesting game - and a good excuse to go exploring.

1 Friday, 2 Beers, 6 Fields
Over the first week, after starting playing Ingress, I spent 15-30 minutes a couple of evenings, walking around my local area hacking, capturing, linking, and fielding portals. Though on a Friday evening (2016-01-08), I decided to spend a bit more time and with a bit more planning. So I had two beers and then took my bike out in the snow to capture portal and make links and fields. I ended up creating two layered fields right where I live, three layered fields 15 minutes from my place, and single field next to that. Take that, frogs (who have dominated the area all week - and, sigh, still kinda do).

At the time Ingress was really a fitting game for me - getting to explore places outside while still achieving something in-game. Thank you, Amy Porter, for introducing me to Ingress

Operation Rainy Saturday
The afternoon of 2016-01-29, while looking at the Ingress Intel map, I noticed the possibility for making a decent sized multi layer field in biking distance from where I live - and this without having to take down any severely protected (L8, AXA, etc.) green portals (it was still my first month of Ingress and I couldn't really handle those on my own). After a beer I went out to collect the necessary portal keys for the two anchor portals, which surprisingly took less than an hour. I didn't want to do the actual OP in the dark, as getting to the necessary portals involved too much dirt road and forest, so I decided to wait until the day after.

The next morning the rain was coming down hard - which I took as a good sign as it hopefully would discourage some frogs from coming out and taking down my work before it was finished. Maybe I was right, because not a single one of my portals/links/fields went down... until 8 minutes after I was finished with the whole thing. Then a few of my fields were taken down and the green fields came up again. Still, I'm glad I managed to complete my small Rainy Saturday OP.

I had originally hoped that I also would be able to take the viking village and thereby add 3 more layers, but it turned out that thing was one tough green fielded L8 AXA viking village, that simply wouldn't budge. I might need to revisit it with a group another time.

Battlefield Motions During 4 Hour Bike Ride
On 2016-02-06 I decided to head out on a bike ride to play some Ingress. I ended up spending almost 4 hours biking around the area, taking down green links+fields and putting up blue ones (though not exactly some well-coordinated ones, I have to admit). At one point I realized that one of the portal keys I gave Torben Nikolajsen the evening before might suddenly be usable, so I dropped Torben a message and he happened to be in the exact right spot to use it - creating a nicely looking field. :-)

Morning Fields and Evening Fields
The morning of 2016-02-27 I decided to take a bike ride in the morning fog to make some big beautiful blue fields. It went pretty well - until I got a flat tire right after I finished the bigger fields. I went home, walked to the store to get a new tire (the old one was torn in multiple places), walked home, and fixed my bike (not only the tire - also a few other preexisting problems).

Then in the late afternoon, with my bike standing there ready to go again, I decided to create a blue sky over a frog from the neighborhood (Dr. Dolk). So I went out and created as many layered fields as I could over my neighborhood - which turned out to be a quicker task than expected.

Early Bird Reaches Their 4 Planned Goals
Early morning 2016-03-05 I decided on 4 goals in Ingress that I wanted to achieve during the day. I made a plan for how to do so and then headed out for a bike ride as soon as the sun had come up.

I ended up on an almost 4 hour bike ride, going to a whole bunch of portals, both near and far away. The bike ride ended up being longer than planned due to my original plan, to make overlapping fields to the East, getting shot down by frogs before I could finish. Instead I decided to use my gathered keys to field towards West instead - which was a success.

After almost 4 hours out, my phone was about to die, so I went home and made lunch while my phone was charging. Then I went out again for an additional 30 minutes of Ingress to hit the last few of my goals for the day.

All in all, I removed the long green links, made some beautiful blue fields, and achieved all the 4 goals I sat for myself. :-)

Obsidian Copenhagen
On 2016-04-02 a giant Ingress Anomaly event took place in Copenhagen, with people flying in from all over the world. The event was named Obsidian Copenhagen and I was on team Alpha, fighting bravely for the Resistance the whole day - and having a great time doing so.

Operation Arrowhead
The weekend of week 16, 2016, I took part in an Ingress Resistance operation in Denmark - with great success. The operation was called Operation Arrowhead and it was lead by fellow smurf Vestegnen. It was an interesting, fun, and exciting experience.

Thank you to all my great fellow teammates - both for the main operation Saturday evening/night and for the small spur-of-the-moment repeat operation Sunday afternoon that I happened to be one of the instigators of.

At some point during 2016 I began playing Ingress less and less, until I apparently completely stopped. And then, when I got a new phone, I didn't reinstall the Ingress app and I haven't touched it since.

It was fun while it lasted, but the high expectations from team members and the focus on giant OPs, with significant dismissive responses to small links/fields, got the better of me and I stopped enjoying the experience. So while the game was for me, the community wasn't - and that was that.

More than half my life ago I co-wrote and produced a short film with a couple of my friends. The movie was about an assassin and a mafia boss with an identical twin brother. The rest of the plot was as predictable as it could be (or was it?).

The movie was buried for more than a decade for the simple reason that we used unlicensed music and got caught. However, tonight I noticed that Google lifted the 10+ year ban, which means all of you can "enjoy" the "work of art" I took part in creating when I was a kid. I've even captioned the whole thing, so you can "understand" it without understanding the teenage south-Jutland Danish dialect.

Back in 2016 I found out that, close to where I live, there was an abandoned building with a special look to it. Some locals referred to it as Alien Lab - and I can see why. On 2016-04-23 I took a closer look and it turned out that there apparently had been a fire in the alien lab; though whether this was before or after it was abandoned, I don't know. 

At the time I couldn't seem to find any information about what the place actually was, so I chose to "believe" that it was a top secret governmental alien lab where one of the alien test subjects escaped in a fire.













After I shared my photos of the "alien lab" on Google+, fellow local Jan Ullerup chimed in with an explanation:

It was indeed a lab. It was a "radiation-free-zone" - specifically designed to block electromagnetic radiation to leak inside. It was originally stateowned, but when the telecom industry was privatized it was handed over to TDC, who have continued to operate in until around 2002. It was mostly used to test whether new cellphones and other transmission equipment met regulations. EU regulation meant that the individual manufacturers were allow to "self-certify", effectively making the lab irrelevant.

On Pi Day in 2015 I made a thing in honor of the day - which made my hand hurts.



Behind the Pi
I made the Pi Day creation by writing down 2819 digits of pi with a pencil with certain digits written in bold to form the pi symbol. 

The way I did this was not by having 2819 digits of pi memorized and simply writing them down. Nor was it by looking at a list of digits, writing down a few, looking at the list again, writing down a few more, and doing so over and over for all 2819 digits. The method I chose was one where I could read the digits without having to look up from the paper and where I could keep rows and columns of digits perfectly straight.

I simply opened a text document with digits of pi full screen on my Chromebook, rotated the screen, taped a piece of paper to it, turned up the brightness to full, and then wrote down each digit where I could see it through the paper. This I did for all 2819 digits - and the decimal point, making it 2820 characters in total. Afterwards I opened a full screen pi symbol and bolded the overlapping digits. The process took a while - but I'm quite pleased with the result, which now graces my kitchen wall.

The project I currently am working on for work (August, 2014) is very heavy on the JavaScript side, so I have had a chance to really improve my JavaScript skills. Because of this, I decided yesterday (2014-08-09) to grab my Chromebook, a few beers, and see what I would come up with.

After trying out a few different online JavaScript IDEs and not being too impressed with any of them, I finally found https://liveweave.com, which did exactly what I needed. A bit of brainstorming, some playing around, several beers, and even more hours later and I had created Deep Pink - my first ever JavaScript game.

Deep Pink is neither innovative nor especially impressive, but I had fun making it, so I am sharing it with you:

Press spacebar to start/restart the game and then simply press the key of the letter shown. A new letter is shown when you press a key or wait too long. Back in April of 2014, Sherri Griffin, Carrie Canup, Sandy B, Mz Maau, Scott Cramer, and I were goofing around about David Hasselhoff  in the comments of a random Google+ post (now seemingly deleted) and somehow Carrie ended up writing the following words:

    "I want a singing animal filled with chocolate."

At the time, I said I would see what I could do "one of the next days," but I never got around to doing anything... until late August.

On 23 August, 2014, I went to IKEA to buy some new bed sheets and I stumbled upon a teddy bear, which immediately made me think of the 4 month old conversation. I bought the teddy bear and the day after I gave it a pocket in the back, to in the future be filled with chocolates and send to a still-to-be-determined victim (spoiler: of course that would be Carrie - but she didn't know that yet). Before sending sending it out, I also made an attempt at making the teddy bear sing; something which I, at the time, wasn't sure how to make happen.

Here are two photos of the supplies I used to make this weird wish come true.






Adding a Secret Pocket to Teddy Bear Back

After giving the IKEA teddy bear a back pocket (heh), I wanted to test it out - so I thought my older, smaller, homemade teddy bear could come in handy. Here's a GIF of it.




Adding Music Box to Teddy Bear Foot
When I added the secret pocket to the back of the IKEA teddy bear, I at the same also asked for suggestions for how to make the bear sing, in order to fulfill the 4-months-old wish - and Sandy B suggested that I use a Build-a-Bear song chip. So, I did just that.

At this point the only part left were to find some good chocolates to put in the secret back pocket, and then send it to an unsuspecting victim (again, of course that would be Carrie - which I didn't let anyone know at the time, to have it be a surprise).

Aka. 1 Drunk Dane Designs 9 See-through Dresses

Earlier this week (2015, week 28) I stumbled upon a post on Tumblr (https://kimsamermaid.tumblr.com/post/123143816030) with the artist Shamekh's (https://facebook.com/shamekhbluwi) beautiful and interesting dress designs. Shamekh uses a straightforward, but still revolutionary (to me), concept for designing some of their dresses' textures. It is frankly very simple. Draw a dress, cut out the main parts, and hold it up towards the world around you.

I am honestly the worst drawing artist I know; but that doesn't stop me. I drew 9 dresses, with as realistic as possible human beings wearing them. While doing so I learned that I draw dresses way better than I draw humans. Then I cut out bigger parts of the dresses in order to make the sketches see-through. After that I went around my apartment and outside taking photos of my creations with the real world as background (using a frame I made). In the process of doing so, I learned that 6 beers is not enough for me to not care about the weird looks my neighbors give me. Anyway, I took the photos, cleaned them up, and am now sharing them.

P.S. Several of my drawings are directly inspired by characters in various movies/series. Do you recognize any?

Cardboard burger
In my post about Amazon sending me an empty box (https://goo.gl/wQh1yV) Mary C. got inspired by a story from Keith Cramer and suggested that I should use the Amazon cardboard box to make a burger out of and feed it to Fluffy McSharkah Khan. As soon as I finished season 2 of House of Cards (priorities!) I went down to the local hobby store and bought a glue gun and some paint. Here is the result - a cardboard burger fed to a cardboard shark.

At some point this evening between my first and second beer I decided to try to hit up Omegle (an anonymous chat site) to see if I could find some interesting strangers to chat with. After several (aka. many) annoying "ASL?" people I encountered a teenage girl from the US who I ended up chatting with for almost 2 hours - learning several things about how it is to be a girl in high school in the US (https://goo.gl/Lj2Qsv). An interesting conversation, to say the least.

Afterwards I took a small break but quickly went back to Omegle. After several more "ASL?" strangers I encountered yet another interesting person - this time a bit more expressive girl by the name of Alyssa - who reacted quite strongly when I mentioned what my first name was (https://twitter.com/Reschat/status/1079249405012787200).

After I mentioned my first name to Alyssa it didn't take long for her to find my Google+ account. After hearing her enthutiasm for my previous cardboard creations (#cardboardsnacks) I asked if I could make one in her honor. Alyssa asked for a Queen Llama - but before I even could get started Alyssa had to log off to babysit her niece. Nonetheless, I here bring you the true Queen Llama.

This afternoon I noticed that I still had my old glass chess set and my very first thought was to make a dramatic checkmate scene using fake blood. Now came the question of which game to reenact the final position of.

I began wondering if the chess game in the Chessboard Chamber from the first Harry Potter book was possible to recreate. As it turns out the final chess position was not described in the book; though for the movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), chessmaster Jeremy Silman got the task of writing the chess game. Through a blog post from Jemery Silman about the chess game (https://goo.gl/dZ6M83) I was able to recreate the finale scene of this game. Here it is.
